Introduction to Meal Planning Monday

I thought I would introduce a theme for Mondays here to cover the subject of Meal Planning, and share my personal family menu plans and ideas, with some recipes along the way.  I’ll be looking to connect us with another Meal Planning meme so we can benefit from the experience & advice of others, too!

Starting next Monday, I will post my family’s meal plans for the week and some of the recipes I rely on.  Today, I’ll share my philosophy of Meal Planning and what I’ve learned as I’ve incorporated Meal Planning at home.

What’s for Breakfast?

How many times have you heard that Breakfast is the most important meal of the day?

Even if it wasn’t the  most important meal of the day, it is still the favorite meal for many people.  Myself included.

I love a big bowl of cereal for any meal!

Being a mom now, with two toddler-preschool aged girls, cereal doesn’t hold quite the same thrill for them. Or for me.  Considering the number of times milk has been spilled onto shirts.

Peanut Butter Snack Attack!

I am a serious fan of peanut butter.

Always have been.

Thankfully, I’m not allergic to peanut butter or anything peanut related.  I truly feel sorry for those who are allergic and are unable to enjoy the incredible satisfaction of this fantastic food!

Honestly, if I were forced to choose between chocolate and peanut butter it would be a real struggle to decide…

A Sweet Mother’s Day Surprise!

When I picked up my 3 year old daughter, Curly, from Mommy’s Day Out yesterday, I was actually able to stand and chat with her teacher for a few minutes.  I enjoy the opportunity to do this because her teacher is so sweet and loving to her class and I appreciate the effect she is having on my daughter.  Taking advantage of it, we were chatting and catching up on Curly’s progress and growth this year.

While we were talking, I could see my daughter out of the corner of my eye and saw she was getting something out of her backpack.  Not unusual, so I didn’t pay much attention and kept visiting with Mrs. L., until I saw Curly eating something out of what looked like a thermal coffee mug. It’s Cheap. It’s Multipurpose. It’s Probably in Your Pantry.

It’s Vinegar!

And since May is National Vinegar Month, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to talk about vinegar and its many practical uses.  Discovering
new uses for products I already stock in my kitchen always gets me excited!

Beyond vinaigrette and salad dressing recipes, beyond pickles and pickling – vinegar is a product that has multiple uses whether you are  cooking, cleaning, gardening or more!

Because it is so inexpensive, you can afford to use it in a variety of ways!
