An Apple A Day Keeps the Doctor Away

ApplesHave you ever heard the old saying an apple a day keeps the doctor away? Well there are now 10 good healthy reasons to eat apples.

  1. Bone Protection – phloridzin which is found only in apples is found to protect menopausal women from osteoporosis. Another ingredient called Borin is also said to strengthen bones.
  2. Asthma Help – There was a study done in children with asthma who drank apple sauce daily suffered from less wheezing.
  3. Alzheimer Prevention – A study on mice found that the ingredient quercetin in apples may protect the brain cells from the kind of free radical damage that may lead to Alzheimer’s.
  4. Lower Cholesterol – the pectin in apples is said to lower LDL (bad) cholesterol.
  5. Lung Caner Prevention – There was a study of 10,000 people that was found to lower the risk of lung cancer by 50%.
  6. Breast Cancer Prevention -  A study on rats showed that eating one apple a day lowers your risk for breast cancer. The more apples you eat per day the more your risk were to lower. According to the study on rats.
  7. Colon Cancer Prevention – Pectin in apples helps reduce the risk of colon cancer and helps maintain a healthy digestive tract.
  8. Liver Cancer Prevention – Another study in rats said that an extract from the apple skins lowered the risk of liver cancer by 57%.
  9. Diabetes Management – The pectin found in apples supplies galacturonic acid to the body which is said to lower the body’s need for insulin which could help in diabetes management.
  10. Weight Loss – A study on women showed that those who ate 3 apples a day lost more weight while dieting then those women who did not eat fruit while dieting.

    I think people need a more personal approach when it comes to doctors. I know i have a doctor which takes care of my problems(prosolution) and he is so nice. He always knows me by name, he's friendly and i gladly attent every meeting.
