A Sweet Mother’s Day Surprise!
May 7, 2009 by Debbie Taylor
When I picked up my 3 year old daughter, Curly, from Mommy’s Day Out yesterday, I was actually able to stand and chat with her teacher for a few minutes. I enjoy the opportunity to do this because her teacher is so sweet and loving to her class and I appreciate the effect she is having on my daughter. Taking advantage of it, we were chatting and catching up on Curly’s progress and growth this year.
While we were talking, I could see my daughter out of the corner of my eye and saw she was getting something out of her backpack. Not unusual, so I didn’t pay much attention and kept visiting with Mrs. L., until I saw Curly eating something out of what looked like a thermal coffee mug.
I sorta stopped, turned my head, and said, “What is she eating?”
Immediately her teacher exclaimed, “Oh no! It’s your Mother’s Day Gift!”
So as I got closer, I saw that Curly was holding a pretty little container and was eating little chocolate kisses. When I could get it from her, this is what I saw:

Isn’t it cute?
It’s a little white, sponge-painted glass canister with lid that had her two pink handprints on either side. It appears as if she is handing the canister to me.
Inside it had been full of chocolate kisses and hugs. Only a few were missing, so I didn’t mind. =)

I love it! What a precious Mother’s Day Gift!
The great thing is, I will be able to keep this jar in my kitchen, holding sweetener packets, tea bags, cocoa mix or other precious treasures for years to come! What a handy little gift!
A perfect last minute gift!
With a few inexpensive supplies, this would make a great gift for someone special. You would only need:
- A jar with a lid that has a seal. I saw some at Hobby Lobby today as a matter of fact.
- Acrylic paint in two or three colors.
- Sponge brushes.
- Filler: Candy, tea bags, cocoa packets, etc.
For just a few dollars, you can create a memorable gift for someone, or decorate your own kitchen and organize at the same time! They come in a variety of sizes and the design is only limited to your imagination!
