Mom’s Talk Network is a teaching network.  We work with a fresh group of blogging interns every few months, teaching them all about Wordpress, blogging, social media and affiliate marketing.

Our Current Interns

Christy Daugherty

I’m a SAHM of 3 wonderful kids plus 2 outstanding step kids ages 8-13. I left my job in retail to finish my degree a couple years ago and ended up falling in love with this wonderful man that I met when we were young. My degree once completed, will be in Human Development.

My family and I live on a small farm in Alabama where we have 4 dogs, 3 kittens and about a dozen cows. You can see more about our life at Polka Spot Farm.

Being a young single mom of 3 kids, I barely kept my head above water, but we always kept food on the table. Now that I’m married keeping food on the table for 5 kids isn’t always about the money, but the sheer amount of food those kids can eat!’

I’m happy to bring you my expertise from the kitchen and great Southern recipes from the kitchens of my Mama, aunts and two grandmothers who passed all of their traditions along to yours truly (along with my wide hops I’m afraid!)

Other than blogging at Polka Spot Farm, you can find me at Sensational Divas Review and Eat Sweat Lose where I blog with great friends.

If you are interested in guest blogging or have a product that you would like to have reviewed, please contact me at Christi(at)polkaspotfarm or on twitter @ChristiDarty.

If you are interested in becoming an intern like me sign up for Kelly’s Blog Internship and trust me, you will love it!

Glenda Thomas

I  am the mother of 3 young adult children, 1 son and 2 daughters and 1 grandson age 9.  I have been  married to J C Thomas Jr for 36 years.

My mother, rest her soul, was my favorite cook. I was always the first to the dinner table and the last.  Her cooking was so great she even made me like liver and onions.  Growing up I ate food from scratch!

Eventually, I married and had a family of my own.  I read books on child nutrition and tried to do the best I could. When my children were infants, I use to make them baby food from fresh veggies and use this grinder to smooth it out for them.  My children didn’t like the usual baby food veggies.  My children ate most vegetables except blacked-peas.  They even enjoyed salad.

When my children got older I began to learn about the effects of sugar on the body and mind and I began to hear in the news about childhood diabetes.  Fortunately, none of my children suffer from that disease, but I am wondered what could I do to help moms think about and prepare foods that will help their children to grow up strong.

Personally, I am a vegetarian.  I do not try to force others to become vegetarian, but I do encourage, less processed sugar in our diets,  cutting out hydrogenated oils.  I will be encouraging moms to include the children in the food choice and preparation, make eating healthy FUN!  I will blogging about how to read labels on packaged food and how to make healthy exchanges.

I look foward to hearing from you about your comments and the challenges you face in getting good food to your family’s table.
