buzz-a-mom

This week, Moms Talk Network is introducing “Buzz a Mom”. It’s a fun and unique way of learning about a blogging mom from the Moms Talk Network of blogs. If you would like extra exposure for your blogs, contact mom@momtalknetwork.com

This week’s Buzzed Mom is Mary Lutz, a highly respected blogging mom who has 4 awesome blogs. Not only has Mary created and built her online business Professional Virtual Business Solutions, she also has a Personal Blog, a blog for helping us be Efficient WAHMs and Open Talk Mom, where she opens up to us “Mom to Mom”.

I interviewed Mary about her dining out activities. I’m sure you will feel her warmth and love for life as she gives us a taste of her casual dining.

What is your favorite type of place to dine out with friends, and what is its name?

My favorite type of place to dine out with friends is somewhere that will accommodate a large group easily. It needs to be a place that doesn’t necessarily require reservations and has a variety of price ranges to meet just about every budget. It should also be more on the casual side, at least for my friends :-) . I’ve gone out to fancier places, and while they are nice for a very special occasion, we feel more comfortable in a more casual setting. I’ve had great experiences at Ruby Tuesday. They always accommodate (with a smile on their face, I might add) larger groups. The service is usually always great and the food is always good. I’ve never had a bad experience there.

What is your favorite food?

Personally, having grown up in New Mexico, my favorite food is Mexican.

After dining out, do you normally do another activity, say, go to the movies, or bowling, after ward?

Sometimes yes. My friends and I have been known to plan an entire evening of dinner, then a movie or bowling. Not so much since I am remarried now, but back in my single days, my girlfriends and I would often go out on Friday nights and have some girl time.

Can you share with us either your most embarrassing moment, cherished moment, or funniest moment when dining out with friends or family?

A whole bunch of us went out for one of my friend’s 21st birthday (yes I have friends that much younger than me :-) ) and we had an amazing time! We drove to a larger town about an hour away and one of the chefs came out and entertained us like no other!

He sang to my friend who was having the birthday, made sure we were having fun, played songs we requested and even danced with the birthday girl. It was one of the most memorable experiences in a restaurant I’ve ever had and it wasn’t about the food! As a matter of fact, I can’t remember what I ordered!

We returned to that same restaurant for my birthday and that chef was gone. It was not the same. Yes, we still had fun because we made our own fun, but we have not been back since. That was 4 years ago!

Do you have any words of wisdom for us when we dine out with friends?

Choose a place that is fun and casual. I find the best places when dining out with friends are the ones where you can kick back and be yourself. Also, be sure to go somewhere you know the service and food are good. You don’t want your night to be ruined by bad food or bad service. Also, be sure they can accommodate a large group, if that’s what you need.

Some restaurants just don’t easily accommodate larger groups so you end up either waiting a long time till they can pull empty tables together, or you end up with a split group and that’s no fun!

Thank you Mary, for allowing us to interview you!
