Have you heard about Great Food for All? I had not heard of this program until very recently.
About a year ago, we were visiting friends and they mentioned going to get their Angel Food order. I asked what they meant, and they proceeded to tell me about this program called Angel Food Ministries that they ordered a box of food (enough for one week’s worth of meals – roughly 7 meals) for $30 per box once a month. It sounded way too good to be true, and I wasn’t sure what to think. They talked about the variety of food they received – from pizza rolls and chocolate cake to frozen chicken breasts and shelf-stable milk.
The next month we placed our first order, and have been pretty faithful in placing at least one monthly order, either with Angelfood Ministries. Then, a few months ago, Great Food For All was announced at our church. We signed up and placed our order and were very pleasantly surprised!
Between the two programs, we prefer the GFFA box – but either one is a good deal and we now have the opportunity to purchase one of each or compare and see which one we’d like to order for the month.
From the Great Food For All website:
“GFFA is a faith-based, non-denominational company which provides top quality food products to virtually any interested person through local Distribution (Host) Sites on a monthly basis.”
While GFFA is not offered in every state, you may find a local host site here. This is how it all works! There are NO income guidelines, so anyone can take advantage of this deal! In our case, our church allows anyone in the community – church member or not – to place a monthly order. It can be used for the person who purchases or donated to someone in the community.
If you unable to find a local host, you may consider approaching your church or a local organization to see if they are willing to incorporate this very family-friendly program as part of their community outreach or ministry.
The basic requirement for both programs is to purchase a “Basic” box – there is a “Regular” box or one for “Seniors” (where the meals are already prepared and just need to be heated).
A sample “Menu” for the $30 Big Box (GFFA) is as follows:
4 – 6 oz Strip-loin Steaks, 1 lb IQF Chicken Wings, 1 lb Bone-in Ham Steak, 27 oz Banquet Salisbury Steak Entrée, 1 lb Frozen Berry Mix, 2 lb Cut Corn, 1 lb French Fries, 1 lb Pollock Fillets, 1 lb RTC Chicken Thighs, 1 lb FC Sausage Patties, 1 lb Hash-brown Patties, 2 lb Peas & Carrots, 3 lb Spinach, Snack Pak – Chorito Lil’ Bites, and a Dessert
This $30 box of food is valued at $60-$80!!! Purchase of either the regular or senior box entitles you to purchase of a variety of additional “box” options – including fruits & vegetables, meat packages, and much more.
Note: What we liked about GFFA better was the quality of food. It was something like the difference between shopping at Aldi’s / Save-a-Lot and shopping at Meijer’s / Kroger’s. We shop at Aldi’s and find great bargains there, but I prefer many Kroger brand products if I can pay the same price!!! And it doesn’t only come down to money. If the food tastes better, it’s worth paying the same price, isn’t it?
If you can find a local host site, I highly recommend you try it out for one month. It’s only $30 for a box of food you can use throughout the week or even to supplement your monthly meals…

We actually did Angel Food for a little while, but just couldn’t ever remember to go pick up the box, and decided it was a waste of money, plus I am so bad at meal planning that it caused me to stress.
Guess it’s Kroger for me!
We have used Angel Food here & found it really helpful when money was tough. I’m going to check out Great Food For All!
You’re right! If there’s no restrictions who wouldn’t take advantage of saving a little money while feeding your family.
That sounds like a great idea. I’m going to look into something like that around here.
Thanks Debbie
I was just going to relax and read this morning then in the meantime I got your blog to read. Really good one.
