Let’s face it – we don’t always feel like cooking every meal, every day.
Personally – as much as I love cooking and baking, there are days I just want to avoid my kitchen. I mean for days at a time. I get tired of the whole process:
Menu planning.
Grocery Shopping.
Coupon clipping.
Meal Prep.
Dirty Dishes.
UGH!!!
I’ll admit - I fall back on EASY meals – frozen or kit-style pizzas, visits to Subway or McDonald’s and other easy options – a couple of times a week. We also eat lots of salads at home because they’re easy and easily customizable for each family member.
I fantasize about having a Rosie in my kitchen!
You know – a Jetson’s style Rosie. A robot who will take care of the stuff I don’t like so I can really enjoy cooking. But I don’t. I don’t even have a dishwasher (yet). So I have to find a way to keep myself interested – change things up – without breaking the bank or losing my system.
Having a menu planning system is helpful. Using coupons is financially practical. Working from the same basic recipes each month is simple. But sometimes – we all need a break. We all need some help. We all need some inspiration.
Since I can’t have Rosie – I think I’d like to have Rachel!
Or at least this cookbook that promises a wealth of good recipes: 365: No Repeats from Rachel Ray:
She is there for the cook who needs a break. A little help. A little inspiration. Until they invent a real Rosie – I’ll be happy to work with Rachel!

The minute they come out with a robot that can cook, I will be the first to buy it. Even if I have to mortgage the house. And Rachel, of course, is always awesome.
I want a Rachel too! But, maybe I’ll have to settle for the book!
I could go for a Rosie in my house! Instead I have settled for my husband. What a great cook he is!
