Hello. My name is Debbie Taylor – I’m a new intern here at Family Foodies – and THRILLED to be here! I look forward to sharing with you and hopefully, learning from you, too!
I grew up in the home of Marsha (a.k.a. Martha Stewart!) Baker However, I think my mom is Martha’s long-lost twin! She was the Mistress of her domain, and she totally ROCKED The Kitchen! Because our last name was Baker - she used to joke with a twinkle in her eye, “I’m a good cook, but I’m a better Baker!”
Her cooking was renowned and her recipes sought after… They still are. We can count on one hand the number of culinary “failures” that emerged from her kitchen – and even then, they’ve become legendary family stories…
As a wife and mom – who has only been a Stay-At-Home Mom for a year – I have had the pleasure of rediscovering my love for cooking and baking. While being a full-time working mom of one, and then two babies, I avoided cooking as often as possible. (My tiny kitchen did not help…) Now that I’m home (and have even LESS time with two preschoolers) I have rediscovered my genetic disposition for being domestic, and my passion for cooking and baking. Despite my diminutive kitchen – I love cooking and baking good food!
With a mom like “Martha” and a desire to keep things simple, I have amassed a vast collection of cookbooks & recipes, quick cooking tips & shortcuts, stories & life lessons from the kitchen – but I am always on the lookout for more! I enjoy easy recipes that can be “jazzed” up with more nutritional elements, using gadgets and tools that save time and reduce mess, and finding ways to save money in the process.
So – what kinds of things do you want to see here? Any features or topics you have questions about? Leave your feedback – I’d love to hear from you!
P.S. – Martha, I mean Marsha, thanks for supporting me and for giving me such a grand heritage to pass along to my family! My work here is just another extension of your superior gift of culinary genius!

Jamie – thanks for the comment. The kitchen can be SO MUCH FUN!!! And yep – my mom rocks!
Pam – I am still fairly new to organic foods, but have been doing some research on how to get more organic foods locally. I’ll keep your request in mind for a future post or two!
Anne – welcome to blogging – it’s fun once you get comfortable with all the techy stuff. I’m still learning all kinds of things and have been blogging for 3 years, so if you’re always looking to learn something new – you’re gonna love it!!!

Precious Daughter O’Mine – you are MUCH too kind and sweet about your comments about me. Nothing warms a mama’s heart more than to know she’s been able to pass down a good heritage to her children…especially a daughter.
(My firstborn and only daughter!) You are making great strides in that limited kitchen of yours and I know you are climbing up that food ladder quickly, and am sooo tickled to know you’re enjoying your time in the kitchen…as I always have.
I’m very excited about your opportunities right here and sure can’t wait to read more. Thanks for all the ways you teach me as well! XO

Sadly, I’m a box and can kind of girl. Happily, I’m starting a garden so we’ll be eating fresher things!
Isn’t it great to write about something you love!

HI Martha, I mean Debbie! I’m so inept in the kitchen, so pretty much anyone looks like Martha Stewart to me. So, I’m very interested in your quick cooking tips & shortcuts. I’m an intern as well and look forward to working with you.
