Do you love strawberries?
They are one of the best early summer fruits, and are so wonderful whether eaten fresh from the stem, or added to a delectable concoction for dessert.
Dipped in chocolate. White, dark, or milk chocolate. (Or all three).
Lightly mashed, sweetened with stevia and served over pound cake, shortcake, or ice cream.
Sliced with real whipped cream, vanilla pudding, cream cheese – or a mixture of both.
Strawberries can soften the (somewhat bitter) taste of rhubarb, and complement the contrasting flavors of blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries and many other fruits.
Who doesn’t love strawberry jelly served with your morning toast or fresh baked bread? Luscious!!!
Here’s a great recipe for Strawberry Freezer Jam using frozen berries, in case you can’t get fresh locally.
They are a wonderful addition to smoothies or cereal (both cold or hot). Added to a summer fruit plate, they add a fresh burst of flavor and color. As a dessert ingredient, alongside coffee or tea and you have a beautiful ending to a delightful day.
Their nutritional value is amazing!
Low calorie (1 cup = 55 calories), calcium rich, high in Vitamin C and magnesium – they are a friend to anyone who is watching their diet. And when dipped in dark chocolate, they are a PMS sufferer’s treat (so here’s a valid excuse to splurge!)
Whether you can pick your own at a local berry farm, find them at a farmer’s market or your local grocer – ‘Tis the season to enjoy Strawberries!

Strawberries are my favorite food – absolute favorite!
This year, I planted a few in my garden and can’t wait to enjoy them. Thanks for the recipe links!
My absolute favorite is strawberry shortcake. It represents summer for me. I get my strawberry fix every day in my morning smoothie.
I LOVE strawberries! You are covering some of the foods that I love! Strawberries are good anyway you have them, in my opinion!
One quart of strawberries disappears really fast in my house!
One other way I love them that you didn’t mention is on my waffles.
