Sometimes it’s nice to get unique tips for doing things better, or more efficiently, around our homes. I though I’d share a couple with you.
Sealing your phone inside a zippy bag when working in the kitchen can be a real life saver if the phone rings when your hands are messy. Your phone stays clean, and your hands don’t feel guilty for getting schmutz on the phone.
Do you ever fight with the garbage bags to stay up and around the garbage can? I found a solution to keep the bags where they belong.
I found that by using an elastic head band, like from Goody, works great to hold those bags in place. I put the bag in, and then put the elastic hair band around the rim and over the bag. There are huge rubber bands that you can buy for this, too, but I prefer the elastic hair bands.
I tend to go toward safer cleaning products around my house. I have found a chemical free way to unclog a drain. First, remove the standing water. Pour one cup baking soda, one cup salt and 1/2 cup white vinegar in the drain. Let this stand 5 minutes, then flush with 4-8 cups of boiling water. I put the water in my tea kettle and turn it on to boil just before I put the ingredients in the sink drain. You may have to do this treatment a couple times to make sure the drain is running free and clear, but it does work.
Do you have any unique or unusual kitchen tips you’d like to share? I’d love to hear them!
